Philosophy
The Department of Automotive Engineering (TDAE) is dedicated to producing self-reliant, confident graduates who can apply their academic knowledge and practical skills to solve industry challenges and contribute meaningfully to the broader Nigerian/global society. The program emphasizes developing ingenuity, originality, and problem-solving skills, beginning with a strong foundation in basic engineering sciences and advancing to applied design in later years.
TDAE believes that the future of transportation and mobility lies at the intersection of innovation, sustainability, safety and human-centered design. Our curriculum is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of both traditional and cutting-edge automotive technologies, fostering a mindset of continuous learning and adaptability. TDAE aims to produce graduates who are not only proficient in engineering principles but also attuned to global trends and the evolving challenges of the automotive industry.
Furthermore, our philosophy extends to producing graduates capable of handling vehicles from any manufacturer worldwide. We emphasize the design, fabrication, and assembly of vehicles using locally available materials, encourage AI in vehicle control/drives and encourage the adoption of efficient/renewable energy sources in automotive propulsion. Our program aims to combine a solid theoretical foundation with practical skills, enabling graduates to take on challenging roles in the automotive and manufacturing sectors. Additionally, TDAE focuses on entrepreneurship, engineering management, and engineering law, empowering our graduates to establish their own businesses, create jobs, and become employers in the automotive industry.
